Is This For Me?

A Continuous Glucose Monitoring system may be appropriate if you experience any of the following:

  • Diabetes or prediabetes requiring frequent glucose checks
  • Glucose changes that are hard to track with finger sticks alone
  • Symptoms of rapid highs or lows like shakiness, fatigue, or brain fog
  • Trouble identifying which foods or activities cause glucose spikes
  • Wanting real-time feedback when adjusting meds, exercise, or meals
  • A history of hypoglycemia or low blood sugar episodes, especially without warning
CGM is not a replacement for comprehensive medical care, but it can provide day-to-day visibility that helps you and your care team adjust treatment plans more effectively.

Benefits

With consistent use and proper interpretation, patients often experience:

  • Fewer Finger Sticks. Fewer finger-stick tests needed for routine glucose monitoring
  • Clearer Awareness. Clearer awareness of food and activity effects on glucose
  • Better Control. Improved ability to avoid highs and lows with better medication timing and dose adjustments
  • Reduced Variability. Reduced glucose variability and a stronger sense of control and confidence in daily management
  • Fewer Emergencies. Fewer unexpected hypoglycemic episodes that might otherwise require urgent care
CGM is not a standalone treatment. It is a tool that supports long-term glucose stability when paired with medical care, healthy habits, and appropriate medications.

Safety & Contraindications

Do Not Use

CGM is generally low risk, but it should not be used:

  • On areas of broken, irritated, or infected skin
  • In individuals with adhesive allergies unless a protective barrier is used
  • Without discussing with a clinician if you have conditions that affect peripheral circulation or skin integrity
  • Near MRI or strong electromagnetic fields, since the sensor must be removed before imaging
Patients who take insulin, sulfonylureas, or other glucose-lowering medications should review how to respond to high or low alerts to prevent overtreatment.

When to Seek Medical Attention

Seek prompt evaluation if you experience:

  • Frequent readings below 70 mg per dL
  • Persistent high readings that do not respond to usual medications
  • Symptoms that do not match the CGM readings
  • Signs of infection at the sensor site
  • New confusion, severe fatigue, or other symptoms of severe hypo or hyperglycemia
CGM provides information but does not replace in-person evaluation for concerning symptoms.

Most sensors last 10 to 14 days depending on the device.

In many cases finger sticks are needed only for confirmation of very high or low readings or if symptoms do not match the data.

Yes. CGM is used across a wide range of metabolic conditions.

No referral is required. You begin care directly with an online consultation.
